Your privacy is important to us. That’s why we do absolutely everything to keep you up to date about how we handle your information and why.

Why do we process data and personal information?

Here at Maldini, we highly value relevance. The right message to the right person, at the right time. Consequently, we try to map our target audience as well as possible by analysing our website visitors’ behaviour. That’s also referred to as profilingTo do this, we use Google Analytics, one of the most commonly used web analytics tools that doesn’t take privacy and data protection lightly.

By doing that, we can find out a little more about you, without having to obtain your identity. Based on your behaviour, we try to focus our communication (for instance e-mail newsletters) and advertisements (for example on Google) on your preferences specifically. That way, it’s relevant for you ánd we have less work to do! But that’s not all: we try to make your online experience even better by optimising our website based on our analyses.  As an online marketing agency, that makes sense, right?

Obviously, we hope that you’ll take the first step and drop us a line. You can do that through our contact form where we’ll ask for your name and e-mail address. Undoubtedly you understand that we need this information to be able to personally contact you with regard to your message.

In addition, we also offer you the possibility of subscribing to our newsletter. Your  e-mail address will then be added to our mailinglist, which is solely used for direct marketing purposes. Losing interest in them? Still friends! You can easily unsubscribe through the link at the bottom of our e-mails, or simply let us know.

How do we collect and process this information?

Most of the information is collected by using cookies. Those are small files that are, through your webbrowser, stored to your computer when you visit our website. They forward information through to the tools we use for analysis, marketing and communication (for example, Google Analytics, MailChimp, etc.) No worries: that information is processed in the so-called ‘pseudonymisated’ format. That means that they can’t be directly linked to you as a person.

Without going into too much technical detail: all of that obviously happens safely. After all, most of those external tools are part of the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield, which means that they’re obliged to transfer personal data across digital borders safely.

Legal enforcements of the process

The personal data that comes in through our website, is processed on the basis of article 6.1 of the General Data Protection Regulation. That means that we process personal data:

  • Because we have a legitimate interest in this as it’s essential for our business operations: optimising our website and personalised marketing, being an online marketing agency – you see the link, right?

  • Because we need them to fulfil this agreement: you’re contacting us, and because we are well mannered, you can expect something back from us…

  • Because we received permission from you for this: you will only receive our newsletter if you signed up for it (by enlisting yourself on our website). Personalised marketing using remarketing techniques is based on cookies that you accepted. But don’t worry, you’re in the driver’s seat! You can indicate your cookie preferences in the cookie notification, and you can always adjust them through our cookie statement.

Is my data being shared with third parties?

Let us get straight to the point: we will never pass on your personal data to third parties with commercial purposes.

What can occur, is that personal data is shared with third parties in relation to measurement and the tools we use for this. For example, your data is, in a safe and ‘pseudonymisated’ format, sent to Google’s servers if we’re using Google Analytics. Or to MailChimp if you sign up for our newsletter.

Also website plugins are sometimes seen as a third party. That’s how our website passes on information to social networks if you share one of our cases or blogs using the share buttons. Or did you watch a video that’s published on Vimeo or YouTube? Then the user statistics are also passed on to our channels.

Both we, and our external providers, guarantee that we’re taking the necessary technical and organisational measures to ensure the protection of your personal data. That’s a promise!

  • Facebook: for sharing buttons and personalised advertisements

  • LinkedIn: for sharing buttons and personalised advertisements

  • Hotjar: for browsing behaviour analysis

  • MailChimp: for mailcampaigns

How long do we keep your data?

The retention period for all cookies that we use on our website, you can find in our cookie statement.

Online forms that you send to us through the website are kept in our content management system and in the database that is linked to it. There’s no specific retention period allocated to this, because we want to efficiently follow up on all queries.

Naturally you’re able to look at, improve, request and delete your personal data. Drop us an email and we’ll do our best to help you further.

Your rights

Like we said earlier: you’re in the driver’s seat. And that means that you have the right to look at your personal data, improve it in case there’s some incorrect or incomplete information, delete them or limit the process of their use. That counts if your request is ‘reasonable’. Basically, if we don’t have to undertake disproportionate organisational or technical measures.

We know, it’s a lot. But a well informed person is worth two!
